At Blossomtree Psychology, my therapeutic work with infants, children, and families is grounded in a relationship-based model of care. I believe that healing and growth happen most effectively within the context of safe, trusting, and attuned relationships — both within therapy and in the child’s broader world. As a Clinical Psychologist with over 28 years of experience — and specialised training in infant and early childhood mental health, trauma, and neurodevelopment — I draw upon a diverse range of evidence-informed approaches tailored to each child’s unique needs, strengths, and developmental stage. Every intervention is guided by compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for the stories and lived experiences of the children and families I support. Core Principles My practice is underpinned by: Relational safety and attunement: A secure therapeutic relationship is at the heart of all the work I do. Children need to feel seen, understood, and emotionally safe before meaningful exploration or change can occur. Trauma-informed care: My approach is grounded in understanding how trauma, stress, and adversity impact the developing brain, body, and sense of self. Developmentally informed practice: I meet each child where they are developmentally, adapting strategies to fit their capacities and needs. Therapeutic Modalities and Interventions I integrate a wide range of therapeutic approaches, drawing flexibly on the following: 🧠 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Used to support children in developing coping skills, managing anxiety, understanding emotions, and changing unhelpful thought patterns, adapted to be age-appropriate and playful. 📖 Narrative Therapy Helps children and families re-author their stories, externalise problems, and build agency, meaning, and resilience. 🖐️ Sensory-Based and Somatic Interventions For children who have experienced trauma or have regulatory challenges, these interventions support nervous system regulation through body-based strategies that help children feel safe and grounded in their bodies. |
🧸 Play Therapy Play is a child’s natural language. I use play-based techniques to help children express feelings, explore relationships, and process difficult experiences. 🎨 Art and Creative Therapies Drawing, painting, storytelling, and other creative expressions can offer powerful pathways for healing, particularly for children who find it difficult to articulate their feelings with words. 🎵 Music and Movement-Based Interventions Movement and rhythm can regulate the nervous system, support emotional expression, and build connection. I also use DRUMBEAT — a structured, evidence-based drumming program that builds resilience, connection, and emotional expression. 🐾 Animal-Assisted Interventions Therapeutic work with animals can enhance engagement, reduce anxiety, and support regulation and connection. Animals offer non-verbal, unconditional support that can be particularly powerful for some children. 👶 Parent-Infant and Dyadic Therapies Using approaches like Watch, Wait and Wonder, and other dyadic models, I work with infants and their caregivers to strengthen attachment, co-regulation, and early relational repair. Supporting the parent-child relationship is often central to healing and prevention. 💞 Insight-Oriented and Reflective Work For older children, or in parent work, I integrate deeper therapeutic work that allows for meaning-making, self-awareness, and the exploration of inner worlds, always paced with safety and trust. 👨👩👧 Parent Work and Emotional Coaching I am a trained Tuning Into Kids™ Facilitator, offering individualised support to parents in building emotional connection, understanding behaviour through a relational and developmental lens, and developing strategies that foster emotional intelligence and resilience in their children. Every child and family brings their own unique story, culture, needs, and strengths. My commitment is to walk alongside you — with care, curiosity, and collaboration — as we work together to support your child’s wellbeing and developmental journey.
